Top 15 Movies of 2016 So Far

The current mood in the country is anything but jolly following the EU Referendum results. But that doesn’t mean that we should sit about and wallow. It might not be the outcome that some of us hoped for but that doesn’t mean that we should stop laughing. 

We all deserve a little pick-me-up so here’s a list of my
top 15 movies of 2016 so far. Take a look and discover some new favourite
films.
15. Zoolander 2
Why you should watch it:
Zoolander 2 is a laugh-a-minute comedy that refuses to take
itself seriously.
 
14. Joy
Why you should watch it:
Jennifer Lawrence teams up once again with director David O. Russell
to create a gripping movie that tells the tale of one woman’s struggle to
become the person she is meant to be.
13. Hail, Caesar!
Why you should watch it:
The Coen brothers give us another glimpse into their multiverse,
and boy is it a thrill.
 
12. Triple 9
Why you should watch it:
Triple 9 is a gripping action-drama about corruption, dirty
cops and loyalty.
11. The Nice Guys
Why you should watch it:
It’s slick, sophisticated and has an awesome soundtrack too. Plus Ryan Gosling’s in it, what more do you need?
 
10. Eye In The Sky
Why you should watch it:
Eye In The Sky shows the reality of modern warfare without being crude. It’s tense, even downright uncomfortable at times, but it’s also thought-provoking.
 
9. 10 Cloverfield Lane
Why you should watch it:
Imagine The Shining with a Sci-Fi twist, crazy right? The
movie will freak you out.

8. X-Men: Apocalypse

Why you should watch it:
Jennifer Lawrence brings her Katniss Everdeen-esque energy to her role. Evan Peters’ wit is as quick as his moves and GOT’S Sophie Turner gives Jean Grey a 21st century makeover.

7. The Big Short
Why you should watch it:
The Big Short is all about the greedy shits that profited from the 2008 financial
crash. It will both enlighten and entertain you in equal measure.
 
6. The Hateful Eight
Why you should watch it:
No one is better at raising hell than Quentin Tarantino and The Hateful Eight is
no exception. It’s bloody, violent and full of depravity, and I wouldn’t
have it any other way.
 
5. The Jungle Book
Why you should watch it:
This breathtaking retelling of Rudyard Kipiling’s famous book will transform you to another place and make you fall in love with story all over again.
4. Spotlight
Why you should watch it:
Spotlight isn’t an easy watch but that doesn’t mean you
should avoid it. It tells the true story of how a group of investigative journalist
uncovered abuse in the Catholic church.
 
3. Room
Why you should watch it:
Room is a captivating tale of love, fear and hope. You’ll laugh, no doubt cry but will end up feeling joyful by the closing credits.
 
2. The Revenant
Why you should watch it:
It’s the movie that finally won Leo his Oscar. The Revenant
is the most visceral movie you will have seen for a while. You’re placed right
in the thick of it.
 
1. Deadpool
Why you should watch it:
Ryan Reynolds takes his smart-mouthed antics to a whole new level as Marvel’s new anti-hero.
